My listening space is kind of sub-optimal due to the room's layout.
#ANTHEM ROOM CORRECTION VS DIRAC LIVE MOVIE#
I'm quite the videophile with a movie library that easily dwarf my music collection and I never heard a system that was able to reproduce well a movie soundtrack without room correction.Ĭlick to expand. My experience as well. In my opinion, room correction is important for watching movies. Objectively the MRX720 has plenty of power and there is no real need for an external power amp. I use a STR power amp to drive my main two front speakers but it's really because, being a sucker for large VU meters, I fell in love with its display.

So yes, I do listen now to 2CH music with ARC on and couldn't be happier with 5.1 audio for movies. I'm not going to claim that Anthem ARC is the bee's knees or that it brought me to the audiophile's promised land but it's sub integration is superb and it doesn't over-correct where there is no need for it. The stereo mode that used Audissey was simply too much of a punishment to consider using it at all. Using it for 2CH music wasn't a panacea either and I migrated to a dedicated integrated stereo amp because even with switching to pure direct the music sounded to my ears as flat and uninspiring. I think I spent more time with an SPL and REW and moving things around the room that I ever did before I tried to use Audissey in the living room. My previous experience was with Audissey and frankly I pissed bolts and **** cubes before I was satisfied with the results for movies, the sub integration was abysmally bad and Audissey also exaggerated a known issue with DD encoded tracks that attenuate the center channel to the point where I could not hear any of the dialogues.
